New 3D Art Challenge: Sculpt January 2022

The next year is near, so it is time for Sculpt January 2022, our yearly sculpting event (since 2015).

It is an online event, where you can challenge your sculpting skills (digital or traditional) over 31 days of January, with a set of 31 topics we provide.

New Video: Live 3D Art Critique - World in a Bottle Challenge (Recording)

Yesterday, we did our next livestream on YouTube, where we critiqued 10 submissions and the three winners of the last World in a Bottle challenge. The recording of the livestream is now online.

Course Update: Master 3D Sculpting in Blender

We added the first full chapter of the "Epic Creature" sculpting exercise, with 16 new videos and a running time of 2+ hours.

In this new chapter you will learn how to model the base sculpting of the creature from scratch, without fine details. Here we follow a creative sculpting workflow where we try to keep it as little technical as possible.

Here are the new lessons of chapter 8:

  • 8.3 - Head
  • 8.4 - Torso
  • 8.5 - Arms
  • 8.6 - Fingers
  • 8.7 - Legs

  • 8.11 - Clean Up - Head
  • 8.12 - Clean Up - Body
  • 8.13 - Clean Up - Arms

  • 8.16 - Clean Up - Merging all Parts

We also updated the Download Section of the course, where the new chapter is now included (English captions are still missing and will be added in the next few days):

Next we will work on the "Epic Creature" detailing chapter, where we will learn how to sculpt all the fine scales and skin details. We aim for a release in February / March 2022. Stay tuned!

Course Update: Cubic Worlds

We added 7 new lessons to chapter 8 "Machine Creation" (~1 hour of new content). This chapter is now complete.

In these new lessons you will learn how to rig a car from scratch. We will make the car follow a curve, make the wheels spin and steer automatically, make it stick to an uneven surface and add working suspension.

New Video: Sculpting Fur in Blender (with Alphas)

In our new YouTube video, Zach Reinhardt shows how to use brush textures (alphas) to sculpt fur in Blender.

He will go over how to import the brush textures, how to adjust the brush settings for best results and a timelapse as example on how to sculpt the fur.
